The Blackhawk Museum

Located an hour southeast of San Francisco in Danville, California (just south of Walnut Creek on Interstate 680, see map and directions), the facility encompasses nearly 70,000 square feet with four exhibition galleries, an Automotive Reference Library & Museum Store, Special Events Area, Board Room and state-of-the-art catering kitchen.

On Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. trained docents provide guided public tours. Tours last an hour and are free with paid admission.

Two spacious Auto Galleries display about 90 historically significant and artistically inspired automobiles — mostly one-of-a-kind — dating from the turn of the century. The exhibition is on–going.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO Take Bay Bridge (I-80) east to I-580, then connect to Hwy. 24 heading east toward Walnut Creek. At the Walnut Creek interchange, take I-680 south to Crow Canyon Road exit. Go east (left) on Crow Canyon Road 4.2 miles. Turn right on Camino Tassajara. The first left (at the Movies 7 Theater) is the entrance to Blackhawk Plaza. The second right takes you into the closest parking area. The Museum is on the hill above the gated Plaza entrance.

FROM OAKLAND AIRPORT Take I-880 south toward San Jose. Just past San Leandro, at Hayward, take Hwy. 238 to connect to I-580 east. Take I-680 north (toward Walnut Creek) at the Dublin/Pleasanton interchange to Crow Canyon Road exit. Go east (right) on Crow Canyon Road 4.2 miles. Turn right on Camino Tassajara. The first left (at the Movies 7 Theater) is the entrance to Blackhawk Plaza. The second right takes you into the closest parking area. The Museum is on the hill above the gated Plaza entrance.
