Completly Rebuilt (overhauled) this past winter/spring. Have put ~3000 miles on since spring. All 6v, daily driven with no issues other than the lack of enough power (for me) on freeway. Ed Fall http://www.vintagewerks.com/ rebuilt PCI 28 carb and (late 55) BR8 distributor. I have a extra rebuild kit for the PCI, a new rebuild kit for the fuel pump, new copper lines to and from the fuel pump, all of which are not installed yet. All the sheetmetal was bead blasted, and sealed with epoxy primer, primed, then single stage painted in a matt black finish. BASF/ R-M products used. The heater works very well and is all hooked up, new stock exhaust was installed when re-built. I will also include a new 6volt battery as I am going to be converting car to 12v as well. Everything included and ready to run. Still in car if wanted to see and hear the powerhouse...

Lightened flywheel, would presume to weigh in at 12 lbs, no lighter though, simply based on feel compared to a stock flywheel. I haven't actually weighed it, just compared to a brand new chromoly lightened flywheel bought from CB recently. Eight-dowelled.

This is my first post but I am not new to Camaros. I have owned my 67 RS/SS convertible since I was 15 and have been in the process of restoring it for the past 12 years. I really got a lot completed on the car when I was in high school but when it came time to go to college the project was unfortunately put on back burner. Anyhow, it has been a long project with many breaks in between work but I am dedicated to completing it pretty soon. (Well, as complete as we all know these things can ever be)

I have been working on a custom big brake kit and wanted to get your opinions on it. I have based the rotors on the C5 (97-04) generation Corvette. I have created adapter brackets to bolt the C5 parking brake setup onto my stock rear end. The calipers I have chosen are as follows:

Rear- all aluminum Brembo 4 piston calipers from a 2004 Porsche Cayenne.
Front- I did intend on using the Brembos from an SRT8 which are pictured but I recently acquired a pair of Brembo calipers from a newer Viper so I plan to use these. The Viper calipers are lighter as they are all aluminum and the SRT8 had a steel center section.

I have CNC’ed test brackets to mount the calipers out of 1/2" thick aluminum plate. Luckily, I have access to a CNC machine. It was my original intention to just design the brackets and make them out of aluminum to make sure they work. Then I would have a steel fab shop make me some out of steel. The more I think about this the more I am thinking my brackets made of aluminum will be plenty strong enough. The calipers themselves are made of aluminum so I can’t see much difference.

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the aluminum brackets will be strong enough or should I just pay someone to make them out of steel.

My car was painted a few years ago but I noticed something odd in the black stripe the other day.it looks like the black BC it slightly wrinkled but the clear is perfect.now I have to admit,it could have been this way for a few years and I wouldnt know because the car sits in the garage with a cover on it.can I cheat and wet sand the hood and reshoot the black stripes in single stage without a problem.I would think if the clear was perfect,I should be fine:confused:
